Swedish Customs will impose value-added tax on e-commerce goods

Time:2018-03-13| Author:Jieyue Logistics Group

Recently, the Swedish Customs will levy value-added tax on all non-EU e-commerce goods (including mail). Regardless of the value of the goods, Swedish Customs will charge the recipient VAT. This provision will be implemented from March 1, 2018.

By then, there will be some problems in the formal implementation of this operation, and it is expected that there will be significant delays in the import logistics of taxable items. It is more likely that after the March 1st, large-scale packages will be returned due to the recipient’s refusal to pay VAT. Changfan International Logistics reminds the consignor that it is important to communicate with customers early to avoid loss.

It is reported that Sweden's VAT tax rate is generally 25%. If the value of the goods is less than 150 euros, Sweden Post will charge a service charge of 7.5 euros. Above 150 euros, a service fee of 12.5 euros is charged.
