Spanish Amazon workers strike again

Time:2018-03-14| Author:Jieyue Logistics Group

Workers of the Amazon Spain station plan to launch a strike on March 21 and 22, protesting at the Amazon San Fernando logistics center in the suburbs of Madrid.

According to the Spanish Workers Federation (CCOO) on Tuesday (March 13), more than 1,000 employees said they would join the two-day strike. The main reason for the strike was protesting unions claiming that Amazon plans to cut employees’ rights.

CCOO said that the strike was initiated by CCOO and other trade unions, and that 1,100 employees will attend. At the same time, it said that in the new employee contract, Amazon plans to stop rising wages, cut wages, and reduce wages during weekends or holidays.

The Amazon Spain station stated that it had conducted direct negotiations with the union and added that the company provided its employees with a competitive compensation structure.

It is understood that this is not the first time that Amazon employees have gone on strike. During the "Black Friday" shopping festival last year, employees of the German and Italian stations of Amazon launched a strike.
